How can you increase your chance of getting pregnant after 35?

Problems faced

Solutions

Many women think of conceiving after the age of 30 or 35. Here we discuss the difficulties faced by them and ways to overcome them.

Problems faced

1.The most important problem is the decline in fertility. As women age, their menstrual cycles become occasional, eggs are not released at every cycle and the quality and the quantity of eggs decline.

2.Formation of scar tissues around the fallopian tube or cervix caused by surgery or infection reduces the chances of conception.

3.Endometriosis is the medical condition found in aging women. It is the deposit of endometrial cells outside the uterine cavity. These deposits are the common cause for pelvic pain and infertility.(Read more about Best Reviewed Treating Endometriosis Program)

4.Uterine fibroids are found in women in their 30s and 40s. These tumors need not be cancerous, but they cause infertility.(Read more about Best Reviewed Shrinking Fibroids Program)

5.Decrease in cervical fluid is another cause for infertility in women in their late thirties. After ejaculation, sperms swim through the cervix to reach the fallopian tube and fertilize the egg. The sperms swim through cervical fluid. The decrease of this fluid prevents the sperm from reaching the egg.

6.Chronic health problems like hypertension and diabetes which are found more among women of this age than those who are younger are also reasons for infertility.

7.Miscarriage is more common among women over 35. Chromosomal abnormalities are the main reasons for this.

Solutions

1.Have a pre-conception appointment with your health care provider. Discuss with that person your concerns about trying to conceive after 35. The health care provider can review your medical history, lifestyle and the present medication you are having. That person must be able to suggest any changes to be made in these matters.

2.You must have a positive approach to your need. It must be understood that it takes longer for a couple over 35 to have children. The average time taken for that age group for pregnancy is one to two years.

3.The woman should take more care of her health. Avoid alcohol, tobacco and caffeine. Both overweight and underweight interfere with hormone function. A mentally and physically healthy woman stands a better chance to conceive.(Read more about Nutritional Tips to Improve female Fertility)

4.Observe your fertility signs like the basal body temperature and the cervical fluid and select the best time for intercourse. By observing the basal body temperature regularly you can make sure whether you are ovulating regularly.(Read more about How to chart your temperature and cervical mucus)
